Life for the PoeKids

There is never a dull moment when you have two lovely daughers in your home! We are constantly amused and amazed as they grow up. It's fun to have the BLOG to keep you all up-to-date with their lives.

Elizabeth has just finished the first half of Kindergarten. She loved every minute of school. She is reading now and enjoys practicing her writing. It was especially exciting to see her read us her first book. Elizabeth does well with memorization. She has nearly finished her AWANA book and were only half way through the year! We were proud of Elizabeth's report card. Each marking period showed improvement. She even excels at math concepts. That may be a first for the Poe family!

Recently, Elizabeth made her daddy's day. She wanted someone to lay down with her to help her sleep. John went to her room and they chatted a few minutes. He told her to roll over so he could rub her back and help her go to sleep. She did for a few moments then rolled back over to say, "Daddy, I'd rather just look at your face and go to sleep that way, because you have beautiful eyes."

Olivia has discovered how exciting the world really is since she started walking. She seems to be the queen of the house as she goes from room to room. Thankfully she can't open doors yet and we can limit the realm of her kingdom. She loves all food. Meats, vegetables, fruits, cereal, everything! If it is non-toxic she will probably love it! Olivia smiles non-stop. Her face lights up the room as she enjoys every minute of the day. She has a deep voice and we enjoy hearing her "words." She often says, "Oh, wow!" She calls John, "Dad." Her favorite thing to say is "Deba-deba-deba-deb." We assume that is her interpretation of mom's name! Olivia received a special toy for Christmas. She enjoys this specific toy so much that even seeing it causes her to start smiling and laughing. Olivia likes to go to bed early. Yet, she lets us know when she is awake in the morning. The morning silence is always broken by a loud shout, "Maaaa-ma!"

Perhaps our greatest joy with the girls is seeing them interact together. They play so well. They share their toys and love each others company. We will savor that now before they reach their teen years!

Hey John & Debbie,
It's always fun to read about your lives and kids.:) And I can appreciate your comment about the joy of them interacting together. At just 6 months and 2 1/2, that's one of our favorite things to watch Timothy and Jaina.
Love you guys,
Peggy
